2011 Sanremo Tango Festival

The first-ever 2011 Tango Summer will be from July 8th to 10th, while the Sanremo Tango Festival will return from September 30th to October 2nd, 2011.

The 2011 Sanremo Tango Festival returns with a third edition, teaching sensuality and international culture. This year it will focus on the idea of the "couple", represented and expressed in all aspects. The "tango" couple's dance is like a language - a way of communicating. It represents each couple's energy, after each individual works both on themselves and their relationship with their dance partner.
The dialogue established between the two partners, two styles, and two souls, is the great fascinating strength of this dance, its culture, and all of the passion that tango has inspired in the world. In this dance, it's possible to unite people from different countries and continents and have them come together in an embrace. This is all thanks to the strong attraction to the guest artists, a truly international audience of tangueros. This is the goal of this third edition of the festival – both the summer preview and the three day event in the fall – to bring a model of cultural tourism to Sanremo and the province of Imperia, based on the high quality of the artistic choices. The dancers and teachers will express truly original styles, both when teaching and in their shows. There will be "musicalizadores" couples every evening that are capable of creating musical journeys, with different locations every time. They are chosen specially to offer the audience interesting suggestions and lovely scenes on the dance floor, all organized in a professional and friendly way. These are the strong points of the Sanremo Tango Festival. The stars of the 2011 festival are: Erna and Santiago Giachello, a passionate couple with strong choreography that is technically perfect for the summer; Diego Riemier "El Pajaro" with Maria Belen Giachello, with their Tango Salon that can often be seen in a very original show version; Sabrina and Ruben Veliz, a couple famous for their artistic precision expressed in various tango styles and always in exciting performances; and Carlos Espinoza with Pamela Ramos Aracena, a young couple that is much appreciated for the lightness of their "milonguero" style. Some companion events will enliven the evenings again this year, particularly the "Sombras de Tango" photography exhibit by Rossana Capasso, a legendary female tango DJ who reached the top of the classfications among the "musicalizadors". Here she presents her photography work, then a mini fashion show with the creations of Emanuela Pansera and Noemi Wolsdof. There will also be a Chacarera dance according to Argentinean gaucho tradition with Emilio Cornejo and Noemi Wolsdorf. What makes the Sanremo Tango Festival a truly pleasurable vacation filled with wonder? The Nyala Hotel's hospitality, the poetry of the Erio restaurant with its incredible collection of Italian music, the magic of a night of tango under the moon on the Baia Salata beach, and finally the extraordinary atmosphere of the Ariston Theater.
